Congratulations to T. Masteller and A. Revell on their winning and most of all for their help with range improvements.
In an effort to improve the range and add a dedicated set of pistol ranges the pistol range committee is asking for your help in arranging for dozer and dirt work. If you know someone who is willing to help the club please contact John Burke who is heading that up. He can be contacted using this link or (417) 540-3621.
We are wanting to build an "action" pistol range so if any of you have any experiance you want to share, please let John know.
Here is a brief Synopsis about the Tiny Masteller Memorial Range. Richard Jim Fredric Masteller, a towering man of 6' 7", 325 lbs, "Tiny" to his friends and co-workers, was the father of Tom Masteller, who donated the Range to the Marshfield Shooting Club in 2007. Tiny was a firearms collector from his youth. He was raised in Nixa Missouri, by a single mother from the age of 3 after his father, a WWI veteran, died of mustard gas complications. Due in part to the family situation, Tiny experienced many influences throughout his life, and worked at many different types of jobs. All the while he maintained a collection of firearms for personal enjoyment. Tiny was a star basket ball player for the Nixa Eagle in the '40s, and later served our country during the Korea conflict as Military Police in St. Louis where his expertise with firearms proved to very useful in his appointment. Tiny had worked at the cheese factory in Nixa in his early years, and later took work when the new Kraft Foods plant was opened in Springfield Missouri in 1954. He retired from Kraft with over 35 years of service. Tiny married Ida Lee, daughter of Evert Lee of Ponce De Leon, in 1958, and had one son, Tom, in 1960. Tiny hand built three family homes, acquired an Apple Orchard, and later a Dairy Farm all while working and raising a family. In 1991 Tom, with Ida and Tiny, opened "Wheels, Weapons, What-nots" in Marshfield. They specialized in Guns, Auto Accessories, and home trinkets. The business flourished, later moving to two larger locations. During this growth, Tom realized the need for a shooting facility for their customers, and purchased what is now the Marshfield Shooting Club's range. Tiny passed away in 2004, while the Range litigation was ongoing. It was also during this time that the Osage Orange Sharpshooters, and the Midwest Friends of GOA became involved in salvaging the range. Though Tiny didn't use the range often, shooting and firearms were his passion. His enthusiasm for firearms is the SOLE reason this range exists today.
Membership to the Marshfield Shooting club allows use of the clubs range during daylight hours year around except for special events.
